Rate a Team Member From the Ratings Tab
At a glance
The Ratings tab on a team member's profile is the ad-hoc entry point for rating. Use it when you want to rate someone outside the normal Prompts flow: catching up on a team member who has not been on shift recently, reviewing someone before a performance conversation, or entering a backlog of ratings at once. The tab shows every position the team member has a rating history on (for the current FOH or BOH context) as a clickable pill, and clicking a pill opens the same rating widget you see elsewhere in OneClick. The Rating History stream below the pills is FOH/BOH-agnostic. it shows all historical ratings from both sides.
Before you start
- You need a role with permission to rate team members. [VERIFY: exact permission label.]
- Know which team member you want to rate and which position.
- Read Understand Rating Modes and Tiers if you have not already.
- Estimated time: one to three minutes per position rated.
Steps
- Select Team from the left navigation menu and open the team member's profile.
- Click the Ratings tab in the profile's tab bar (between Infractions and Passports).
- The Training Ratings header shows an Overall Average Rating badge (for example, "Overall Average Rating 3.6"). Below it is a row of position pills. The position pill row is side-conditional. it shows positions for the currently active FOH or BOH context. To see pills for the other area, toggle FOH/BOH at the top of the screen. Each pill shows the position name and the team member's current rating for that position (for example, Runner at 4.3 stars, or Cash Cart at 2 in red for a below-qualified rating).
- Click the position pill you want to rate. The rating widget opens.
-
Choose a Rating Mode and enter your rating:
-
Override. replaces the team member's current rating for this position.
- Average. averages your score with the existing rating.
- Comment only. records a note without changing the numeric rating.
- Speed Rating. one-click submission mode. Generates a single rating entry tagged as "Speed Rating" with an OVERRIDE designation. A footer prompt appears guiding you to follow up with full multi-criterion ratings when time allows. Use Speed Rating when you need to document performance quickly mid-shift and plan to come back for a complete rating later.
- Save the rating. [VERIFY: confirm whether the widget saves on star click or requires an explicit Save.]
- You should now see the rating recorded in the Rating History stream below the position pills, tagged with your name, the mode, and the position. The Rating History stream is FOH/BOH-agnostic. it shows all historical ratings from both FOH and BOH positions, regardless of which area is currently toggled. Speed Rating entries appear with the OVERRIDE tag visible. The position pill's star count updates to reflect the new overall rating.

Common gotchas
I do not see the position I want to rate in the pill row.
Position pills are side-conditional: they show positions for the current FOH or BOH area. If the position you want is on the other side, toggle FOH/BOH at the top of the screen. If the position still does not appear, the team member may not have a rating history on that position yet. To rate them on a new position, wait for a Prompt to fire when they cover it, or contact support about enabling the pill manually.
The pill is red even though the team member is working at an acceptable level.
Red pills indicate a below-qualified rating (under the 3.0 tier threshold). If the rating looks wrong, enter a new rating in Override mode with the correct score. The pill color updates automatically once a qualifying rating is recorded.
I see a Go to Passports button. Is the Ratings tab part of Passports?
No, Ratings and Passports are separate features that share vocabulary. The Ratings tab covers ongoing shift-performance ratings; the Passports tab covers position-certification training records. The Go to Passports button is a convenience link between the two surfaces.
I rated the team member but the Overall Average Rating at the top did not change as I expected.
The Overall Average Rating is the roll-up across every position. One rating on one position moves the overall average only a little, proportional to how many positions contribute to it.
I see ratings in the history from both FOH and BOH positions.
That is correct behavior. The Rating History stream is FOH/BOH-agnostic and shows all historical ratings regardless of which area is currently toggled. The position pill row is what changes with the toggle; the history stream is always the full cross-area record.
I used Speed Rating and now see an OVERRIDE tag in the history. Was that right?
Yes. Speed Rating always records as an override. The OVERRIDE tag means the entry replaced the prior rating rather than averaging with it. If you want the rating to average instead, enter a new rating in Average mode. The footer prompt at the bottom of the Speed Rating widget reminds you to follow up with full multi-criterion ratings when time allows.
I want to rate a team member on General Feedback, not a specific position.
One of the pills on the Ratings tab is labeled General Feedback. Clicking it opens the rating widget without a specific position context, so you can record feedback that applies broadly to the team member's work. [VERIFY: confirm how General Feedback ratings factor into the Overall Average Rating and whether they contribute to passport stamping.]
